Advanced Recycling Can Help Reignite U.S. Manufacturing

The federal government and states can help by tweaking a few outdated laws and regulations to recognize advanced recycling as manufacturing and recycling.

Advanced recycling can help the U.S. “re-manufacture” more of the plastic that is discarded and not reused today. From food packaging to car parts, advanced recycling can dramatically increase the types and amount of plastic that can remain in our economy and be re-manufactured (i.e., recycled).

Re-manufacturing plastic through advanced recycling – instead of simply wasting it – strengthens our domestic supply chain, creates jobs, and reduces our environmental footprint. It represents an opportunity for the U.S. to lead the world in stronger, more resilient, and sustainable manufacturing.
